Dearest eager reader,
Since you’re reading this, I am assuming you and I are standing in a similar place.
Let’s take it in, look around, and remember how it feels to be here right now. Perhaps you have a knot in your stomach or a racing mind with the feeling of uncertainty. One day, this will hopefully be a time of our past. Just a part of our old selves. A place we needed to pass through to get to where we’re going.
<pause. feel. breath>
Before we ramp up, let me tell you a little about myself, so you know who you are on this journey with.
For starters, I live in Southern California with my husband and pup. My husband owns his own business, and I have a full-time career job in a fast-paced industry. This means he works all the time and my schedule from day to day is all over the place and rarely consistent. On top of our “day jobs” we also manage multiple properties, and we both have a large extended family. Sadly, for us they live about four hours away- so most of the time it’s just me and him. We love to try new things and would consider ourselves to be adventurous. We like to travel, watch movies, and we’re foodies. We both try to balance the idea of “live for today” and “plan for the future”. Pair a demanding schedule with the desire to live life to its fullest; you’ve now got a very hectic, busy and sometimes loosely structured life.
As for my role with the blog, I am by no means a professional life builder/coach and do not claim to be an expert in any of the areas we will be covering. I am just a woman in her late thirties, who has some life experience and listens to her gut. My personality type is “researcher”- which means I like to investigate things before I make a decision. And though I don’t go to church I am still a woman of faith so I will be praying to God, asking for guidance for you and me. This may not be a luxurious journey, but it will be our journey, nonetheless.
Please keep in mind that many of the things we are striving for (body, mind, lifestyle, spirit) will all take time to rebuild. Our steps will be small but will add up in the end. Below are my projected phases we will continuously repeat as we rebuild all parts of our life.
The Dream Phase: During this phase you get to dream and envision the person you want to be. I personally like this phase as i am able to allow my mind to wonder and create without limit.
The Design Phase: We will spend most of our time here as we are relearning about ourselves. This is also where a lot of trials and errors will happen. We will be organizing and coming up with efficient ways to do things. This right here is where we break bad habits and build new ones.
The Devote Phase: This is our sustainment phase where we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. There will still be some tweaks here and there as life is everchanging but the idea around this phase is we are intentionally living in the space we created.
My next post will let us dive deeper into the beginnings of The Dream Phase. Until then, I would like you to take the next few days dreaming of what you want life to look like. Remember our categories; Body, Mind, Lifestyle and Spirit. We should have a goal for each of these. Also, while you are dreaming, please try to find visuals that represent these dreams. We will reflect on these regularly to remind ourselves of our Goals.
This blog will go through some deep times, and some light times so feel free for your answers to look like this, “I want a six-pack AND be able to forgive those who have hurt me”. We are very complex so expect this journey to be as well.
To help get you started, here are some questions to help you to reflect on,
Body:
Do i want to be strong?
Do i want to look attractive?
Are my health concerns by my doctor being tended to?
How are my insides functioning?
Mind
Am i challenging my own ideas and thoughts?
Am i learning and growing?
How do i view myself?
What are my thoughts and feelings around my job?
Lifestyle
Do i like being in my home?
Do i find it safe and comforting?
Do i feel like my designs represent me and my family?
Is my home functional?
Spirit
Do i believe in God or in a higher power?
Can i feel the holy spirit or the energy of the world around me?
Am i am able to feel empathy, forgiveness and love?
Do i have faith in something or someone i cannot see?
Some of these questions might seem direct but remember, you do not have to share them with anyone. This is about being honest with ourselves; exploring and thinking about our own desires and wants out of life. As a gentle reminder, time is ticking, and we only have one life to live. Right now is the time to either change our trajectory or be content with where we are.
Hint! We are here to change our trajectory. This is the right answer. We are here to become our best versions of ourselves. So, let’s get started.
Start dreaming!
